Jacqueline Flynn is an Approved Provider (#179) through the World Association for Sand Therapy Professionals (WASTP). This program meets the requirements for 8 Continuing Education Hours in Sand Therapy.

Description: This presentation explores sandtray therapy within play therapy as a protected space where the client’s inner world can take form through play, sand, and symbol. Participants will leave with clearer clinical language, stronger confidence in the process, and a practical framework for using sandtray in play therapy with clients of all ages. Attendees will engage in guided experiential practice, creating and reflecting on their own trays to deepen clinical attunement and strengthen play therapy informed responses. The presentation offers practical ways to introduce sandtray in play therapy, select interventions along the directive and non directive continuum, and set up a sandtray space with trays, sand, and miniatures. Ethical practice and protection of the client’s sand world are emphasized throughout for work with individuals, families, and groups.

Description: Relational trauma often develops within family systems and can result in rigid relational roles, attachment disruptions, and recurring patterns of dysregulated relationships. While traditional insight-oriented therapies help clients understand these patterns cognitively, experiential approaches allow clinicians to work directly with emotional and relational processes as they emerge in the present moment. These approaches can help clients recognize and reorganize relational dynamics that are often maintained outside conscious awareness. This presentation provides advanced clinical skill development in the use of experiential methods for working with relational trauma within a structured and contained therapeutic framework. Experiential approaches rooted in Gestalt therapy, psychodrama, and family systems theory, originally developed by pioneers such as Fritz Perls, Jacob Moreno, and Virginia Satir, utilize techniques such as family sculpting, role-play, inner child work, and psychomotor interventions to help clients identify entrenched relational roles and explore corrective emotional experiences in a clinically supported environment. Participants will observe a structured clinical demonstration of a hypothetical alcoholic family system sculpture illustrating systemic roles such as hero, scapegoat, lost child, and mascot. The demonstration will illustrate how experiential interventions can illuminate family dynamics, deepen client insight, and facilitate relational reorganization. The material presented reflects trauma-informed and evidence-informed clinical practices supported by contemporary experiential and trauma treatment literature, including work by Dayton (2021), Fisher (2021), and Giacomucci (2021). Emphasis will be placed on therapist attunement, pacing, containment, and ethical use of experiential interventions in clinical practice. Ethical considerations, client readiness, therapist competence, and scope of practice will be addressed throughout the presentation. Limitations of experiential approaches and the importance of appropriate training, supervision, and clinical judgment when implementing these techniques will also be discussed.

Description: In this immersive 8-hour clinical residency, participants will move beyond theory into a high-intensity somatic practicum designed to bridge Internal Family Systems (IFS) with the mathematical precision of Process-Based Therapy (PBT). Using the U-Model™ and Somatic Decoding Laboratory, clinicians will learn to guide clients from “talking about” pain to genuine physiological unburdening - especially when systems become entropic, manifesting as high-arousal reactive impulses (the Skitch) or persistent nagging self-criticism (the Niggle). Through live micro-demos, supervised dyad/triad practice, and proprietary measurable tools (Parts Flexibility Inventory – PFI and Self-Connection Inventory – SCI), participants will master a three-stage Laboratory Protocol: The Kinetic Descent, The Empathic Base, and The Evolutionary Ascent. The day culminates in The Architecture of Sustainability, equipping clinicians with practical strategies to prevent system re-blending and relapse under real-world stress, while tracking long-term progress across a 30-Day Journey. This workshop delivers immediately applicable tools for trauma-informed care and delivers high-value CE credits in clinical skills and evidence-based practices.

    Learning Objectives:

    1. Identify and Map the “Niggle-Skitch” network using somatic signal isolation to pinpoint specific kernels of pain (e.g., neck tension, chest tightness).
    2. Utilize the Parts Flexibility Inventory (PFI) to quantify real-time “decoupling” (defusion) from protective scripts.
    3. Apply the 8 C’s Frequency Check to induce a state of Self-Energy as a stable co-regulator for entropic internal systems.
    4. Execute a Functional Pivot to transition a protector part (e.g., a Distractor) into a values-aligned role (e.g., a Discerning Advisor).

    About the Presenter:

Dr. Rivka Edery is the creator of the U-Model™ and Somatic Decoding Laboratory. She integrates the functional precision of Process-Based Therapy (PBT) with the depth of Internal Family Systems (IFS), translating idionomic science into practical somatic tools for trauma resolution and entropic internal systems. Her work equips clinicians with measurable, Monday-morning interventions grounded in both clinical rigor and embodied presence.
