Description: So you FINALLY made it, huh? After all those years of readings, lectures, exams, practicum hours, and assignments, you've earned your master's degree in clinical mental health counseling, and you're ready to embark on a 2+-year journey of internship as a registered mental health counselor intern. Oh, the places you’ll go! The people you’ll meet! The many things you’ll learn and experience, all inevitably leading to those gleaming, sparkly letters behind your name: "LMHC" (cue angelic voices in the background). But are you sure you know what to do next? Better yet—do you know what NOT to do? Ever been to a 491 board disciplinary hearing? If you have, you’ve probably noticed that a disproportionate number of counselors being disciplined by the board for legal and ethical violations are (gasp)—you guessed it---interns! This 2-hour session will offer you practical tips on what to do (and NOT do) to make the most of your internship.
