Florida Legislative Policy Discussion
Grassroots involvement, upcoming legislative topics and the state of the LMHC profession in Florida
Description: The Florida Legislature is made up of individuals that come from varied personal and professional backgrounds. If these legislators are not educated on the LMHC profession, its professional practice climate may become threatened. Through this session on advocacy, we will uncover how to provide much-needed education to Florida's elected officials. Corinne will explain what lobbying is, why it is important and how LMHCs can become their own lobbyists. The session will cover passage of recent bills and forthcoming legislation. Finally, Corinne will discuss how mental health counselors can work with their State Representatives and Senators to enhance their legislative platform.
