Description: This interactive presentation provides a comprehensive overview of Intimate Partner Violence (IPV) and Teen Dating Violence (TDV), designed to meet Florida's continuing education requirements for domestic violence content. The session opens with participant engagement around defining IPV and TDV and identifying who qualifies as an intimate partner, using brief prompts to draw on attendees' existing knowledge and experience. Participants will then take part in guided small-group discussion exploring the dynamics of power and control, the cycle of violence, and the complex reasons why victims may remain in abusive relationships. Audience input and real-time polling or reflection exercises will help surface the physical, emotional, and social consequences of abuse, along with key risk and protective factors. The presentation incorporates collaborative discussion on evidence-based prevention strategies, followed by interactive practice applying screening methods for IPV and empowerment-based treatment approaches. The session closes with a participant-driven resource-sharing activity, where attendees identify and discuss legal and social resources available to support survivors in their communities, ensuring practical, actionable learning aligned with Florida's domestic violence continuing education requirements.
