Alliance: Insurance & Recoupments: Current Realities for Florida Counselors

Insurance recoupments have become an ongoing concern for Licensed Mental Health Counselors and other behavioral health providers in Florida. Although the recent statewide recoupment issue was resolved, many clinicians continue to face challenges such as retroactive repayment demands, audits, documentation disputes, and shifting payer requirements.

This 60‑minute meeting is designed as a collaborative conversation among colleagues. Rather than a formal presentation, this will be an opportunity for counselors to share their experiences, compare notes, ask questions, and support one another in navigating insurance‑related challenges. Together, we’ll explore what clinicians are currently seeing across different payers, discuss practical strategies that have helped in real‑world situations, and identify common themes that may benefit from broader advocacy.

The goal of this session is to create a space where members can learn from each other, strengthen their understanding of insurance processes, and feel more confident and connected as we address these issues collectively.
