Description: This presentation offers a comprehensive exploration of The Structural Dissociation Model (SDM), equipping mental health professionals with the knowledge and tools necessary to enhance their practice and better serve their clients. Grounded in the latest research and up and coming evidence-based approaches, participants will gain practical strategies and insights to address dissociative symptoms in their client with complex trauma, personality disorders, and dissociative disorders. Participants will leave this presentation with an understanding of what the SDM is, how to identify client dissociation in sessions, and how to utilize the SDM to help clients relate to their experiences in a more effective manner and to process traumatic history.

About the Presenter:

Alexandra Mejia is a licensed mental health counselor and private practice owner at Mindful Insights Mental Health Counseling. Her practice specializes working with trauma, dissociation, and personality disorders utilizing an integrative, person-centered approach to treatment. She is trained in DBT, RO-DBT, MBT, EMDR, and the Structural Dissociation Model for treatment of complex trauma. Her practice is also a teaching practice where she trains MHC students to work with this underrepresented population.
