Learning Objectives:
1. Upon completion, participants will be able to guide clients in using The Relationship Tree as an
experiential approach to grief counseling related to the transgender family member.
2. Upon completion, participants will be able to facilitate the creation of the relationship tree
representing memories of their client's relationships with their transgender loved one.
3. Upon completion, participants will be able to apply a series of narrative questions to pose that
helps clients reinterpret experiences and redefine family roles.
About the Presenter: Maria Giuliana, LMHC
Maria Giuliana, LMHC and Qualified Supervisor, is founder of Beyond The Matter Counseling and Consulting Services LLC in Jacksonville, Florida. She is a Doctoral Candidate in the Counselor Education and Supervision Program at National Louis University-Tampa, Florida. Drawing from the foundation of an Integrative Existential Psychotherapy Model, her treatment focus includes creating a safe and supportive therapeutic environment for addressing challenges the LGBTQIA community and their families often face.
