Description: This presentation will focus on ways to adapt music therapy interventions into the Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral modality. Trauma narration is an essential component of the TFCBT model, but can often be difficult for our younger clients (5-10) to do. Songwriting and lyric analysis can be incredibly useful in allowing self expression, processing, and understanding of the narration process through an approachable medium. In this training, you will learn about music therapy principles that can be adapted and utilized in the TFCBT model. You will receive access to prepared lyric analyses, songwriting formats, and step by step instructions for integrating into your trauma narration process. We will explore music therapy as a concept, it’s role in trauma processing, and guidelines for best practices.
