**Emdria requires 10 consultation calls after the training. These are offered by consultants associated with Central Florida EMDR Training for an extra fee depending on the consultant you choose. Costs range from $30-$50 per call paid to the consultant. Once the calls are completed, within 1 year from the first day of the training, you will be able to market yourself as EMDRIA Trained EMDR Therapist. **
After completing this course, registrants will be EMDR Trained. To get EMDR Certified, they must complete the EMDRIA process and application.

Learning Objectives:
Day 1:
1. The participant will be able to describe the historical development of EMDR therapy, including its progression from chance observations to empirical validation through controlled studies.
2. The participant will be able to identify the origins of EMDR therapy, emphasizing Shapiro's initial and subsequent research validating its effectiveness.
3. The participant will be able to discuss the model and methodology via a close look at the theoretical framework and procedural techniques underpinning EMDR therapy, emphasizing its unique integration of psychotherapeutic approaches and dual attention stimulation techniques.
4. The participant will be able to differentiate between the Desensitization model and the Adaptive Information Processing (AIP) model, recognizing the name change and the revised theoretical framework.
5. The participant will be able to utilize Phase1to gather client history and memory timeline and to inform and educate clients about EMDR therapy,
6. The participant will be able to describe Phase 2 in establishing a therapeutic alliance, address concerns, and ensure client safety and stability.
7. The participant will be able to identify client readiness for EMDR therapy and employ appropriate strategies to stabilize clients as needed.
8. The participant will be able to describe the three-pronged approach of EMDR therapy, which includes addressing past memory networks, current disturbance triggers, and future adaptive responses to facilitate holistic healing and recovery.
9. The participant will be able to demonstrate portions of EMDR applications of phases 1 and 2 in practicum, applying the Adaptive Information Processing model effectively.
Day 2:
1. The participant will be able to demonstrate the necessary techniques and skills required for each phase of the EMDR therapy protocol.
2. The participant will be able to describe the 8 Phases of EMDR therapy.
3. The participant will be able to describe the significance of each assessment component, such as image, negative cognition, positive cognition, emotions, subjective units of disturbance scale (SUD), and sensations.
4. The participant will be able to use appropriate dual attention stimulation techniques during the desensitization phase, while being mindful of different types of processing and the importance of maintaining a therapeutic connection.
5. The participant will be able to explain the purpose and process of closure and reevaluation in EMDR therapy, ensuring client stability and addressing incomplete processing.
6. The participant will be able to demonstrate EMDR therapy including the memory timeline, and setting up Phase 3 Assessment to Phase 7 Closure.
Day 3:
1. The participant will be able to describe the process of executing Phase 8 - Re-evaluation in EMDR therapy, including the requisite techniques and skills necessary for assessing treatment progress and adjusting therapeutic strategies as needed.
2. The participant will be able to identify the mechanism of how EMDR therapy works, focusing on its use of dual attention stimulation to help process traumatic memories.
3. The participant will be able to describe the orienting response and the overtaxing of the working memory as two key components of the mechanisms underlying EMDR therapy
4. The participant will be able to demonstrate the Future Template in EMDR training, showing its use in picturing good outcomes and helping clients manage future difficulties.
5. The participant will be able to describe blocked processing, blocking beliefs, and looping, detailing examples and possible techniques to move forward.
6. The participant will be able to explain cognitive interweaves as a powerful but sparingly used tool in EMDR therapy to help clients move past stuck points, with relevant case examples to strengthen understanding.
7. The participant will be able to identify abreactions, highlighting their cathartic potential and illustrating how a trainee can support clients through these experiences.
8. The participant will be able to utilize the procedures for identifying and organizing a Target Sequencing-Three Prong Approach to organize historical information within a treatment plan.
9. The participant will be able to demonstrate EMDR applications utilizing cognitive interweaves, blocking beliefs, and future templates.
Day 4:
1. The participant will be able to describe the difference between simple and process phobias, highlighting how each type influences the treatment plan.
2. The participant will be able to describe the phobia protocol, followed by a participative discussion to strengthen understanding and clarify nuances.
3. The participant will be able to explain EMDR with Illness and Somatic Disorders, focusing on how to deepen work through the connection between cognitions and body sensations.
4. The participant will be able to describe grief work in the context of EMDR, emphasizing understanding and processing of loss.
5. The participant will be able to discuss the process of resource development and installation integrating experiential practice to enhance understanding.
6. The participant will be able to describe methods through which EMDR can be utilized to assist couples in reprocessing trauma.
7. The participant will be able to describe the intake process and identify target memories for Phase 4 Reprocessing.
8. The participant will be able to demonstrate the EMDR process of healing phobias and targeting grief.
Day 5:
1. The participant will be able to discuss the application of EMDR therapy in treating children, focusing on techniques, benefits, and considerations specific to this age group.
2. The participant will be able to identify the role and impact of EMDR in the treatment of addiction, addressing its specific techniques and outcomes.
3. The participant will be able to describe collective trauma, with a special emphasis on understanding the unique impacts of racial and cultural marginalization.
4. The participant will be able to assess the application of EMDR therapy for military personnel emphasizing its effectiveness in addressing their specific traumatic experiences.
5. The participant will be able to assess the application of EMDR therapy for first responders.
6. The participant will be able to describe the application of EMDR therapy in treating sexual abuse and assault survivors with the option of keeping the target image private to facilitate healing.
7. The participant will be able to apply the professional, legal, and ethical considerations pertinent to the practice of EMDR therapy, including scope of practice, adherence to professional standards, and obtaining informed consent.
8. The participant will be able to demonstrate the EMDR target working with addictions and complex trauma.
