Description: The appeal of "Super Heroes" is universal. Incorporating Super Heroes into trauma therapy is a multi-modal approach pioneered by Dr Janine Scarlet. She used this concept to deal with her medical, emotional and refugee trauma. Specific examples from historical, cultural and fantasy suitable for different age groups will be shown as ways to help ciients develop resilience.

About the Presenter:

Dr Kathie Erwin is a Professor at Divine Mercy University School of Counseling. She is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor, National Certified Counselor, National Certified Gerontological Counseling and AMHCA Diplomate in Geriatric Counseling.   Dr Erwin was appointed Fulbright Specialist teaching at University of Iceland.  She has served as Secretary/Board Member and is President of Florida Mental Health Counselors Association. She is also a Board Member of Green Cross Academy of Traumatology. A Master Field Traumatologist, Dr Erwin has served as team leader in Trinidad, India, and Romania. She taught trauma counseling for Ukraine Project including distance support for Ukrainian counselors impacted by the war.
