DescriptionHave you ever struggled with a client who didn’t want to engage in treatment? Did you feel unsure of the cause or identifying the specific barrier? This training will discuss common causes for barriers to client engagement in treatment. You will be able to name these barriers, including specific tools to understand and manage client silence. Brief introductions will be provided on art, music and play therapies with specific creative based interventions to utilize with your clients. The training will primarily address barriers and creative based interventions for counselors to utilize with children and adolescents, with adaptations for use of these interventions with adults.

About the Presenter:

Kacie Zediker, LMHC-QS, LPC, ATR is the owner of The Virtual Couch Counselor, LLC a virtual private therapy practice supporting adults managing depression, anxiety and stress. Kacie received her Master of Arts Degree from Hofstra University in Creative Arts Therapy with Distinction in 2009. In 2013 she obtained initial licensure in Virginia as a Licensed Professional Counselor and has worked with children, adolescents, adults and families in a variety of treatment settings, including residential, acute, intensive in-home and outpatient counseling. Kacie has over 8 years of experience providing clinical supervision to counselors, including mental health interns and residents working towards licensure. Kacie relocated with her family to Florida in 2021 and obtained licensure as a Licensed Mental Health Counselor. She enjoys active engagement with her clients through the use of CBT, solution focused and creative based therapies.
