Description: This course will review how to assess for past and current trauma experiences which are often not overtly discussed by the client at intake, and then what beginning and intermediate counselors can do to utilize techniques they already know infused with cautions and knowledge of trauma in order to best prepare clients for deeper trauma work on referral. The course will identify the three stages of the Herman Trauma Treatment Model and identify the ways in which the model has been confirmed by neurobiological research. The model will also be used to help the clinician identify their place in trauma treatment and their scope of practice at their present stage of their career.
