After all those years of readings, lectures, exams, practicum hours, and assignments, you've earned your master's degree in clinical mental health counseling, and you're ready to embark on a 2+-year journey of internship as registered mental health counselor intern. Oh, the places you’ll go! The people you’ll meet! The many things you’ll learn and experience, all inevitably leading to those gleaming, sparkly letters behind your name: "LMHC" (cue angelic voices in the background). But are you sure you know what to do next? Better yet—do you know what NOT to do? Ever been to a 491 board disciplinary hearing? If you have, you’ve probably noticed that a disproportionate number of counselors being disciplined by the board for legal and ethical violations are (gasp)—you guess it---interns! ![]() Presented By: Aaron Norton, PhD, LMHC, LMFT, MCAP, CRC Dr. Aaron Norton is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor and Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist with certifications in addictions, alcohol and drug counseling, rehabilitation counseling, clinical mental health counseling, trauma treatment, forensic mental health evaluation, forensic behavioral analysis, and forensic psychometry. He serves as executive director of the National Board of Forensic Evaluators, assistant professor of instruction at the University of South Florida Department of Mental Health Law & Policy, International Counseling Task Force chair for the American Mental Health Counselors Association, and chair of the Government Relations Committee for the Florida Mental Health Counselors Association. He co-authored the forensic evaluation section of the “AMHCA Standards for the Practice of Clinical Mental Health Counseling,” authored the proposal for AMHCA’s Clinical Mental Health Specialist in Forensic Evaluation (CMHS-FE) credential, served on the expert panel that created the standards and written exam for the Florida Certification Board’s Certified Telehealth Practitioner (CTP) credential, and has been published in several journals and professional magazines. This is not a CEU event. 12:30 PM-2:30 PM | Domestic Violence 2025 This introductory course examines both the definition and characteristics of domestic violence relationships. Participants in this course will gain an understanding of the dynamics within these relationships and the various types of abuse that can occur. Frequency of occurrence among different populations will be reviewed and participants will be able to identify the signs of abusive relationships. This course also identifies the various reactions survivors can have, appropriate screening tools to identify domestic violence and the most effective treatment options for clinicians to utilize with clients. ![]() Victoria Siegel is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor and Qualified Supervisor in the State of Florida, a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor and Registered Counselor Supervisor in the state of Idaho, and a Licensed Professional Counselor in the State of Colorado. After completing her Bachelor of Science in Psychology from the University of Central Florida, she obtained her Master of Science in Mental Health Counseling from Nova Southeastern University. Vickie is currently a second year doctoral student at UCF working towards her PhD in Counselor Education. Within her 13 years as a therapist, she has worked in various treatment settings with a diverse range of clientele. Vickie is the owner of Pegasus Counseling Services, LLC where she provides individual and group telehealth therapy to adult clients. ![]() Presented By: Julie Vogel, Ed.D., LMHC, LPC/ MHSP, ACS, NCC Dr. Vogel has been a faculty member at South University since July 2018 and also operates a private practice, Julie Vogel Counseling, specializing in trauma, women’s issues, and supporting the LGBTQ community. She earned her EdD from Argosy University in Nashville, TN. Over the course of her career, she has held various roles, including Case Manager, Community Organizer, and Regional Director at an adoption agency in New York. ![]() Presented By: Bridget Glass, Ph.D., LMHC, ACS Dr. Bridget Glass is the Program Director for the Clinical Mental Health Counseling program at South University in West Palm Beach, Florida. In addition, Dr. Glass is a licensed Mental Health Counselor, Qualified Supervisor and Approved Clinical Supervisor who specializes in the treatment of childhood trauma, relationship abuse, and workplace distress in the helping professions. She received a her Master of Science with a dual focus in both Mental Health Counseling and Marriage and Family Therapy and holds a Doctorate in Counselor Education and Supervision. Dr. Glass' clinical experience extends to both private practice and community settings such as schools and women’s shelters. She provides consultation and training on intimate partner violence, trauma-informed systemic practices, secondary traumatic stress in the helping professions, and counselor resilience for regional and national forums. She is a contributing author to the book, Non-Suicidal Self-Injury Throughout the Lifespan: A Clinician’s Guide to Treatment Considerations, and articles that expand on the literature for Counselor Education.
