The goal of deinstitutionalization was to best serve patients through community resources however, this has not always worked out in practice. So where do they go? Meghan Mahoum-Nassar, LMHC, LPC, NCC, CCHP, Corporate Mental Health Director (Eastern States) Meghan is an experienced, licensed mental health counselor who manages NaphCare’s jail operations for mental health services. She provides clinical oversite to teams of mental health directors and licensed professionals at more than 20 jails in her region. Meghan works directly with clinical teams, corporate leaders, and custody partnerships to improve clinical and operational processes, implement and support specialized mental health programs (e.g., mental health stabilization units, veterans' resurgence programs), develop standardized forms and processes for the mental health department, and provides training as needed. Meghan brings a variety of experiences to NaphCare which include working as the clinical director responsible for trauma-informed care provided to adolescent victims of human trafficking, managing court-ordered treatment centers for patients with co-occurring substance use and mental health diagnoses, and managing the quality improvement and risk management department for a community non-profit organization (e.g., accreditation, incident reporting, corporate compliance, training, and process improvement activities).
