DescriptionCounselors can encounter clients involved in the family court system through various roles. Whether counseling children, conducting evaluations, or providing coparenting counseling, counselors need to understand the intricacies of family law and court proceedings. As clients entangled in the family court system can present with a range of challenges, counselors must learn to clearly define their roles, communicate with attorneys, navigate no-contact orders, understand parenting plans, and establish firm boundaries with all parties. This presentation will detail the ways that counselors can encounter clients involved in the family court system, and outline best practices for working with these clients.
