Description: COVID has impacted our culture like no other national crisis, leaving Americans of all ages terrified. The latest KFF Health Tracking poll reports disturbing trends.

  • 72% saying their lives have been disrupted “a lot” by the coronavirus outbreak.
  • 74% believe “the worst is yet to come” when it comes to the outbreak.
  • 59% fear they will be laid off or lose their job
  • 45% are worried they will lose income due to a workplace closure or unemployment
  • 53% are worried they or a family will get sick from coronavirus.
  • 39% of adults say they have already either lost their job, lost income, or had their hours reduced without pay because of the coronavirus outbreak.

Pandemic... is a word most therapists were not trained to deal with yet are trying to manage as millions of people are facing complex mental health issues like panic, anxiety, complicated grief, substance abuse relapse, domestic violence and suicide.

The headlines about the coronavirus crisis are continual, yet often media accounts are inaccurate or exploitive, creating more anxiety. National experts have predicted a second wave of COVID-19 cases over the next few months, so it is imperative counselors utilize every opportunity to educate the general public to emotionally stabilize and keep their communities safe.

This training session will equip you with what you need to do, as well as not to do, in dealing with the media, (including radio, television, print, podcast, webinar or Internet). Communities are terrified and need a calm voice in order to build mental stability in the many who are deeply affected by the COVID-19 crisis.  You will learn how to partner with the media before, during and after a critical incident with a powerful communication model that has been successfully used to empower large groups of people with resiliency and mental health recovery. A guidebook will be given to each participant to enhance this training experience.
